Hand-made soaps from the foothills of North Carolina.
We found that we could no longer deny the overwhelming desire to step away from the computers and make something with our hands. We decided to make soap. From scratch. With lye. After much research, we ordered some equipment and an array of ingredients. Making that first batch of soap was a lot like changing your first diaper - everything was a mess, and we weren't sure how things were going to turn out. When it was finally ready, we got to try our first bar of homemade soap. Remember the 2001: A Space Odyssey scene where the ape first uses a tool while Richard Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra plays? I'm pretty sure the same music played as I lathered up with my own soap for the very first time.
We enjoyed our soaps so much that we started making them for friends and family as well. After several requests to purchase our soaps, we decided to go into business. We have done a lot of experimenting with recipes, flavors, and techniques since then. Our goal is to bring you soaps that please your senses while they clean and nourish your skin. The most important thing to remember about our soaps is this: They work best when used.
